I was working on this irritating opportunity and out of nowhere, the client shared requirements and the assumptions made by the delivery team were opposite. During one of the mail threads, the leadership team requested similar information from other accounts and my manager took it seriously and was collecting some irrelevant information. At the end of the day, the leadership team completely thrashed my manager's suggestions and wanted simple insights into existing accounts. I was completely silent all through the discussions and towards the end, my manager committed that the updated version will be shared by tomorrow and the next day was a weekend. I was completely taken aback by the commitment from my manager and as soon as the call got over, I logged off immediately from my office laptop with the hope that my manager will not bother me over the weekend. Unfortunately, a few mins after the call, my manager called me in the mobile and was blabbering something irrelevant to the work and in the end, he was requesting me to support over the weekend to complete the work. My manager had assigned new work for me after a long vacation with the same irritating account team with whom I had worked earlier, and this opportunity had a very short turnaround time. In addition, my manager had shared a few snippets about the opportunity and had requested me to collate a few slides with a relevant storyline. Trusting his inputs, I had collated all the slides that he had requested for and even framed storyline with my thought process. After sharing the initial version to my manager, he requested me to schedule a call with onsite and offshore delivery team to get further insight about the opportunity. I was confident about my work and with self-boost, I scheduled the call with the team to get further information, the call started with my deck in presentation mode and within few minutes, the onsite team stopped me from going on further. I was shocked by this response from the onsite team and post response the onsite team clearly explained all the stakeholders, the exact requirements from the client, and the information required from us. This was completely different from what my manager had shared, and my work was completely thrown out, to know more please feel free to check out the posts in “G R Team Sites”
